A series of canvases, 2025
Canvas, mixed media, sizes vary (50x60 cm, 20x30 cm 4 pcs)
Continuation of the autumn series "Cracks of Memory", exploring the connection between the sensation of time, space and their embodiment in a mix of found objects (rusty nails) and forms of fixing the memory of objects (plaster and bandages). In the process of working on the series, I realized that the word "nagori" is most consonant with this work. The word nagori comes from nami-nokori - "trace of waves", an imprint left on the shore by receding waters. These are not only barely perceptible lines drawn by waves on the sand, but also seaweed, shells, pebbles, and chips brought by the sea. It is written in two hieroglyphs: na-gori, which means "the name that remains."
In Nagori, attachment, longing and a sense of time passing are mixed... We part with a part of ourselves, leaving it in some object, in the world.
